Our Approach
Life Act is a company of incredibly talented individuals who just happen to have disabilities. Their performances are a moving and honest exploration of what it's like to live with a disability.
The company embraces the social model of disability, which is a way of thinking about, and challenging, the way society is organised. It is not about denying that impairments exist, or that they can have a significant impact on people's lives. It is about recognising that the barriers people with impairments face are mostly created by society, and that these barriers can be removed.
We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy life to the fullest, regardless of their abilities. We strive to create performances that show the joys and challenges of living with a disability, in order to break down barriers and create a more inclusive society.
We all have a story to tell. And what better way to tell it than through the theatre? Theatre is a unique art form in that it allows us to step into someone else's shoes and experience their story first hand. It's a way to connect with others and to understand the human experience in a new and powerful way.
